A night undone of heart filled mouths
Of watchful eyes on a chesty rise
Our comfort held by a wheeze and sigh
His comfort on a bedside table by
Murmured tones speak of bacon and egg
Of daily papers and crusty bread
We are still four or three and a pause
A gap made by he off fighting a war
